Playing in the studio last night with a couple of animal skulls. I love the textures and tones the bones give, these were shot with black n white in mind. I used a small softbox about 3 1/2 feet above the skulls and feathered it off the the left side to give me the shadows I was wanting. They were laid on black velvet with a tea towel underneath to help contour the velvet to the skull as well as to hold it in place as we moved it around.
Thanks, John. I haven't done any new wood carving recently, but I have started working with polymer clay again. I'm sure that skulls will feature among my next sculpted pieces. Might just send one your way.

Do you have a studio set up in your house now, or elsewhere?
I will have my in home studio once everything is moved out of here in the next few weeks.
The whole shoot was done as black and white.
