Need a new DSLR.....(Update)

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 25, 2009, 4:03 PM
...new to me would be good, something like a 20D or better.

I can no longer deal with the smallness of the Rebel XT (350D), both the body and the viewfinder are now becoming to much for me to work with properly. Ever since I got my new eyeglasses I have had issues with the size of the viewfinder, it's to damn small. As for the body, my hands are wearing out to fast, my RA is just becoming more of a problem in that area. My hands cramp faster and I twitch more as that happens and when shooting low light stuff like OT3P or any other live performance, I am at the mercy of the light gods and if they do not bless me with decent stage lights (or decent people running them) I end up with more unusable images than I used to.

So I may be putting a few things up for sale to help raise some money for either a good used 20D/30D or finding a new 40D somehow.

Now to take my ass to a bed

Edit:...

If anyone wants prints, PLEASE buy them directly from me, I need to raise more money than I thought I would need to replace my 350D. I will be putting some manual focus lenses up for sale and god knows what else.

keep your eye on craigslist for your area. for some reason here in albuquerque i have seen 3 40d body's for sale in the last month for around 600. i think people are getting them as gifts or something and finding they cant use them or dont know how. who the hell knows. i love the 40d, and with the battery grip, its very comfortable. i have bear paws, and the grip is very comfortable.

throwing a 50mm 1.8 on it makes for great low light shooting, if you dont already have one, and its very inexpensive. its actually the fastest clearest lens i own, and it was the cheapest.

good luck!

I have several MF lenses I use for low light stuff now and hope to one day buy the new Zeiss 50mm MF lens that recently hit the market.

I to have bear paws but it was not a problem before, without the battery pack I can palm and hide my XT. It was an upgrade in size for me when I was able to get this one, time is just catching up with me now I guess.

Thanks for the info though, totally forgot about CL.

FYI... 20D doesn't have the bigger LCD, the 30D does.

I upgraded from the 350d to the 40d, much nicer body to work with, got mine on ebay for about $995 AUD which was pretty decent. Also hunted down a 85mm f1.8 and a 35mm f2.0 at reasonable prices as well.

Hey man, idk how much you wanna spend, but you can get a 20D, 30D or 40D used from Creve Coeur Camera... at a pretty decent price... They keep them at the Superstore in Creve Coeur but you SHOULD be able to go into the Fairview store and ask em about them, they can call Matt, the used equipment guy, and get one sent over..... Id look into it, they turn away lot of em, so the ones they have are usually in REALLY good shape..

FYI, idk if you knew, but i work for CCCamera, so yea, I have seen alot of them in my store for people to check out and Id buy one of em if i was lookin for a new camera, but unfortunately, Im workin with the 5D and you cant find a 5D mark II on many shelves let alone in a used department...

Hope this helps you,

Scott C.

I've seen on craigslist that there are plenty of 40D's for sale around $700 cause a lot of people upgraded to the 50D, can get a good deal if ya look around.
