Asshole of the day..

The Pope....yep the Pope is an asshole, among many other things. Gotta love a man that thinks his faith can stop AIDS

While in Africa he had this to say... _{from Reuters [link]

"It (AIDS) cannot be overcome by the distribution of condoms. On the contrary, they increase the problem," he said in response to a question about the Church's widely contested position against the use of condoms.

So teaching people that using a condom will help protect you from disease and a possible death sentence (in places like Africa) will only help spread AIDS/HIV even further.

Some stats on Africa....
The disease has killed more than 25 million people since the early 1980s, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, and some 22.5 million Africans are living with HIV.

..and of course the third world countries with the highest HIV/AIDS infections are also mainly Catholic, India being the exception, Africa and Haiti being the point.

why is it that assasination attempts always seem to be on the leaders that are making changes towards the better, but assholes like this are left alone?

Because changes for the better take courage and are normally in complete contrast to what is currently going on. Change scares a lot of people and we are stupid animals when we are scared.

This man is all that is wrong with religion and should be removed from his throne of judgment and power.

It's kind of Sad. the last pope had just begun to mend some of the rifts in the world. Undo some of the religious hatred. As soon as he dies, what happens? this hidebound bunghole gets the funny hat and starts undoing it all.

*sighs* I really do think that when/if the second coming happens, Christ is gonna walk up to the pope say "We seriously need to talk man...."

Not that I believe in any of that, but as I have said before, if there is a heaven and it is full of assholes like most of our religious leaders of the time, I will be happy to spend eternity in hell, at least I would be in better company.
