...so I was pulled out of bed just as I was getting to sleep this morning, my mother calling my name from the living room (yes I am living with my parents while Amber finishes her school, deal with it, besides that is really only 'strange' in the US). She was having chest pains and was just on the phone with her insurance company, they told her to call 911 and do whatever they said to do. Hard to believe if she did not call them they probably would not have covered this whole thing...anyway.
After a brisk 80+mph drive to the hospital she seems to be doing fine, so it was decided I would bring my father home so he could bring his truck up to the hospital, something that rides better than either car and is easier for my mother to get in and out of, figuring she was going to be home later today.
The good news is the pain in her chest is a pulled muscle, the bad news is they found something wrong with her heart, good news is we found it out the best way possible instead of her having a heart attack. My mother is going on 63, is overweight (has been her whole life) and is a diabetic. So this could have been so much more worse than it is now. They are putting her on blood thinners and giving her a chemically induced stress test later today, in order to see what is going on fully and I am sure after that she will have a
heart cath done. The fact that her blood sugar levels were at 245 this morning did not help matters at all.
I expect to know much more by tomorrow, right now I need sleep badly, I have a very bad cold on top of all this, so my body is ready to drop and get some rest. For those of you that do so, I ask you say a prayer or two for my mother, she is a christian and would appreciate anyone doing so. As I am NOT a Christian I ask that you keep her in your thoughts, send some positive energy and light a candle for her and my father, he does not take this kind of thing well at all. If anything does happen to my mother he will be beyond my ability to help, she is his life, even if he never says so.
The last time we had an ambulance at this house is when my brother died, this morning has been very draining physically, even more so psychology. We have been moving towards better eating here, after this episode it will be notched up a lot higher.
Off to get some much needed rest....thank you all in advance.
Update:She is home and doing fine, it was some type of heart arrhythmia of unknown origin and is not something to worry about. Most likely due to her high blood sugar levels. Thank you all for everything.
my husband has recently started on this diet and has been telling me a lot about it. (i just cant give up my mt dew and pasta just yet so im fearful of the bandwagon)
but tonight he was reading a site that was talking about how this guy turned his diabetic mother onto the diet and within 3 months she was off insulin and feeling better than ever. it put me in mind of your post and i thought to share.
of all the diets ive ever heard of this is one that seems to make sense... if anything it might at least be a good read for someone who is looking into healthier eating.
thanks
